Congratulations! You have made it half way through the week, how has it been so far? Just two more days and then bring on the weekend…Happy Hump Day Y’al!
There is something about Hump Day which gives me buoyancy. For me, it signals a sense of pride for making it through the first part of the week and let’s face it not all weeks run smoothly. Sometimes crazy busy weeks can send us lurching forward with arms spread and finger tips stretching out wanting to touch Friday. The Urban Dictionary definition of Hump Day is used in the context of climbing a proverbial hill to get through a tough week. But does it really mean that? Is your glass half full or half empty?
If you are on the glass half empty side, you may feel like your energy has been zapped and you could even be suffering from a bout of grumpiness but if you are on the glass half full side, the world seems so different. Optimism, positivity and opportunities are right infront of you which gives you a whole new lease of life to your week.
Is your week panning out as you expected? If not, here are four tips to help get you through a stressful Wednesday:
GET THE LEAST FAVOURITE TASKS OUT OF THE WAY:
What is on your list which has probably been there for ages and keeps getting postponed to the next day? These are things which weigh you down but could be keeping you in the office until late in the evening or opening the laptop to continue the work after dinner. Neither are ideal but getting them out of the way earlier means a much more productive and smoother week.
GET OUT OF THE BUILDING:
Meet someone for lunch, grab a coffee or just go and get some fresh air. It will help clear your mind, give you the opportunity to reset and recharge.
BE NICE TO OTHERS AND SMILE:
Treat others how you would like to be treated. Being kind to others results in happiness, you are more likely to expel any negativity if you are feeling jovial. It’s also scientifically proven that the endorphins released when smiling make us feel less stressed, we express our emotions and we immediately feel elated.
HAVE SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO:
Plan something for the weekend. Having something to look forward to automatically brings happiness in to your life before the event has even taken place. If your week is a little bit pants then there is light at the end of the tunnel. So if you are feeling stressed or exhausted, take a second to daydream about what you have planned that is coming up. Watch the weight of the world on your shoulders lift and float away.
I hope you have found these tips helpful and have had a glass half full kinda day!
