After the devastating events in Manchester last week and in London just last night, I was unsure as to whether I should be publishing my blog post today. But you know what, this is what these vile inhuman people want, to stop our lives. And if I can add any little bit of positivity and happiness to people right now, I am going to dam well do it. I am typing this whilst watching One Love Manchester on TV, a live tribute concert supporting those impacted by the dreadful events, being more inspired than ever.
So here goes…
I have been nominated for my very first blogging award…the Liebster Award. So what is it? Let me explain.
What is this award?
The Liebster Award is given to bloggers by other bloggers. It kinda follows the same principles as chain letters, remember those? As in, passing this forward to a certain number of people.
What I like about this award is that it aligns perfectly with my blogging and well, social media principles. When I embarked upon my journey, one important factor has stuck with me and is now part of my blogging DNA. It’s called the giving economy. My mentor and now dear friend Andrea, taught me how to participate in social media, and to do it well. Every day I now ask myself how have I supported my online community? Have I genuinely networked, with a cause and helped celebrate other people’s achievements?
What are the rules?
- Thank blogger(s) who nominated you
- Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you
- Nominate at least 5 bloggers but no more than 11 who deserve the award
- Tell those bloggers you nominated them
- Create 11 original questions for the nominees to answer
So see how this award helps raise other bloggers profiles? Helps support them in the blogosphere and be noticed? How awesome do you feel when someone comments on your posts, who recommends you, who shares your articles? See what I mean? It’s an awesome feeling and I feel blessed when someone takes the time to read, comment and share my thoughts. This is what we mean by the #givingeconomy.
So back to the rules…
1. Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you
Let me introduce you to the gorgeous Lauzie, she is a makeup artist, model, health enthusiast, and awe-inspiring blogger. Please do check out her blog Lauzie’s Lifestyle, thankyou heaps for my nomination!
2. Then answer the 11 questions…
What is your favourite memory/memories from school?
Winning the Victrix Ludorum – this is Latin for ‘winner of the games’ an award given to the a girl or woman who is the overall champion in a sports competition. I was a runner back then and I still am. It’s a moment I feel extremely proud of.
When did you last feel free? (no worries, stress, panic etc)
Yesterday afternoon, spending time in the sun with wonderful, supportive, encouraging and loving friends over champagne. Before the dreadful London attack.
Which celebrity has the best hair?
A designer wardrobe or a 5 star holiday?
Definitely a designer wardrobe, this lasts forever but a holiday is only for a short space of time.
Is there anything you don’t like about blogging?
I have to say not really, nothing I don’t like. It’s my voice, it’s where I share my thoughts, my lifeline.
If you could be a child again for a day, what would you do?
I have to go with my original gut instinct answer here, the first thing which came in to my head. I would be transported back to Abersoch, Wales with my Nanna and Grandad where we spent many family sailing holidays.
What was your favourite thing at the park? (swings, see-saw, roundabout etc)
Definitely the swings and those hoops circle things! I used to hang upside down on those!
What do you hope to accomplish by this time next year?
This is very difficult to only give one answer as I have heaps of goals I want to accomplish by this time next year but I definitely want to complete a half marathon by then.
Do opposites attract or do you prefer someone similar?
I prefer someone similar, I used to think opposites attract but life is just too short to spend it with someone who might not get you or your dreams and goals, resulting in being unsupportive and not encouraging to achieve them.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
New York. In a heartbeat.
What’s the best clothes store on the high street?
Mmmm tough one but at the moment I am a fan of Mango.
3 & 4. Nominate a minimum of 5 bloggers
I would LOVE to see more men in the nominations as an equality buff so here is a good mix of nominees. I hope some of them take the challenge. I have sent them all a notification as stated in the rules to let them know they have been nominated.
5. Create 11 questions for them to answer
- What did you want to be when you grow up?
- If you were a biscuit, which would you be?
- If you could only have one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
- Where would you go in a time travel machine? Would you stay?
- Roast potatoes or mash?
- If you had to pick a new first name, what would it be?
- If you could pick two celebrities to be your parents, who would they be?
- What cheers you up?
- What’s the most interesting thing you have read, or seen this week?
- What do you love most about blogging?
- What’s your favourite time of day?
As always, there is no obligation to accept if you have been nominated. Feel free to answer any of these questions in the comment section.
I hope I have managed to add a little brightness to what has been a sad couple of weeks. Have a great start to the week!
So hey you, yes you..I want to thank you for reading my post. Whether you’ve stuck around since the beginning of my journey or whether you’re new to my blog, thank you for reading and supporting. I genuinely appreciate it.
