“Take a deep breath and just enjoy your life.”
Wise words from my mother! She said this casually when we were wandering around the streets of New York on day one, jetlagged and being dazzled by the flashy lights of Times Square.
I have remembered these words ever since. Especially on starting a new job and being lucky to enjoy the delights of the gorgeous island, Jersey. As usual, when anyone starts a new job it’s a case of rolling the sleeves up, putting the glasses on and focusing but after taking a five-month career break I was readjusting to the early alarm, selecting a week’s worth of outfits and oiling the cogs in my brain.
It most certainly gave me a fresh perspective on life, I suddenly became grateful for things I probably take for granted but being in another location allowed me to notice new things. Things which I believe in this week…
FRESH AIR
Ok, so I know that I breathe in fresh air on a daily basis (although slightly polluted in London) but arriving in Jersey took it to a whole new level. I was stood next to the sea, listening to the waves and the air felt clean, raw and natural. It was one of those moments where the natural pinkness in your cheeks arrives. No need to take blusher next week!

DOWNTIME
Not much time for that mid-week, especially not in the first week of starting a new job as you have so much on your mind, so much information whirling around and ideas are flashing before your eyes by the minute but those small moments when you arrive back to the hotel for dinner (even if I am blogging at the dinner table but that’s allowed), and the moment I fasten my seatbelt on the plane, those forty winks really can make a difference.

MY OWN BED
I never sleep well in hotels. Maybe it’s being in a different place or hearing sounds you aren’t used to I don’t know but nothing beats my own bed. After a few days of, and I have to admit, a luxurious comfy bed which I did sleep well in, that feeling of being in my own this weekend has been, quite frankly bloody awesome! I was so grateful for having real comfort, I had a few starfish moments I won’t lie and last night I relished it, even more, knowing I won’t be back for a few more days.

Gratitude changes everything
I guess I am saying I am grateful for things I have probably taken for granted earlier.
What are the things you believe in this week?
