How the hell did that happen?
When did January sneak in right under my nose so quickly? It’s another new year, I remember the last one like it was yesterday. I have been reading so many blogs talking about 2017 highlights and 2018 goals, completely predictable and normal for this time of year but why do we wait for the 1st January to arrive before having a fresh start? Don’t get me wrong I am guilty of quoting new beginnings but I have been prodding myself a little because, in actual fact, every single day is a fresh opportunity. We don’t need to wait for a new year to begin right?
In every day, there are 1,440 minutes. That means we havew 1,440 daily opportunities to make an impact
The first day back in the office post the Christmas break is always arduous, I for one was knackered at the early start. But being one of those annoyingly happy people upon waking (apparently), it wasn’t long before I was pottering around at home, waking the entire condo whilst prepping my Nutri bullet smoothies and beginning a new audiobook to accompany me on the morning commute.
A good start to the morning. Tick. Improved further by getting a seat on both trains, ignoring all gloomy faces (no one was crushing my mojo) and reaching the office with smiles all round as my colleagues greet each other post the break. After all the Happy New Years! had done it rounds, it was down to business. Why is it that I suffer a massive memory loss whenever I have a vacation? I couldn’t remember my passwords nor could I forgot where the coffee cups were stored, I know first world problems and all but this is serious stuff when you are desperate for caffeine.
Once I have logged on to my laptop and have a steaming mug of coffee I am ready to tackle the world. A new addition to this is my home-made smoothie, feeling pumped about to take my first sip a colleague says, “That looks like something that’s come out of a drain!” suddenly it doesn’t feel so appetising but nope, ignore, I’ll be skinny soon so who cares. Going in again for a sip another colleague approaches and says, “That looks like ground up kangaroo testicles” like seriously?! Yes, it might be a tad grass-like but it’s healthy! Their expressions altered to one of curiosity when I shared the ingredients…
50% of the cup filled with spinach
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cup strawberries, add cold water then blast!
So basically I have decided to go on a diet, something to kick start me back into my healthy eating habits. Their interest in my lunch and dinner menu spurred me on is that weird?
Lunchtime arrived and it was dreary as hell outside, grey and dark. Not exactly motivational but my positive pants were still on so I took myself off for a walk. My office is around the corner from Buckingham Palace, how lucky is that? Maybe if I hang around outside Prince Harry might change his mind and decide I would make a wonderful princess.
Fresh air really does wonders for your mood, I was feeling refreshed after clearing the cobwebs and propelled myself into work. The afternoon flew by and it was time to head home with the next chapter of my audiobook. This week I am listening to After You Left by Carol Mason, a captivating, intriguing novel.
To top a pretty good day back in the office a good steak, shower and early night were in order.
I think it’s all about how you think about things, I slid back into my routine and managed to beat those back to work blues.
Are you back to the office yet? Did you manage to beat the blues?
So hey you, yes you…I want to thank you for reading my post. Whether you’ve stuck around since the beginning of my journey or whether you’re new to my blog, thank you for reading and supporting. I genuinely appreciate it.
