Well hello, 2018!
A new year fills me with bounce and sparkle, almost like someone has pressed my reboot button and it’s off to face January with a smile on my face.
Making New Year Resolutions is pretty standard for most of us but this year is different as they aren’t just a promise to myself or an ‘I would like to do…’ they are things I am absolutely going to do, no matter how big or small. Before striving ahead with the things I want to obtain or achieve I think it’s important to remember the things I already have. After all, they do say…
The more you thank life, the more life gives you to be thankful for
We lead busy lives and the increasing amount of articles encouraging us to be more mindful, enjoy the present moment and practice the attitude of gratitude can feel like added pressure for some but for me, it furnishes my life with a sense of fulfillment. Each morning I think of three things to be grateful for, it injects my day with happiness especially when it’s so dark and more recently cold, wet and windy so I thought I would share some of the good things that enhance my life a little bit more.
#1 Working in South West London – I remember an office many moons ago where I was privileged to have a view of a train track but I’m now surrounded by some seriously cool landmarks. My lunchtime walks mean I’m lucky to walk past Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, The London Eye and much more.
#2 Morning commute nirvana – Ok so this may be because many people are still on vacation but I have been securing a seat on both the DLR and Tube for a few days now. It might seem like something simple but it results in a much more charming journey.
#3 That morning cuppa – Literally the first thing I do when I wake is switch on the kettle, I just don’t function without my cuppa. There’s something comforting about that first giant cup, I mean let’s be honest I haven’t been fed or watered for at least six hours as I slept!
#4 Healthy competition – Both my Mum and a friend are new Fitbit owners which has led to motivation, inspiration, and encouragement as we hit that step counter up. Combined interests make it much easier to achieve goals don’t you think?
#5 Being a domestic goddess – Ok maybe not but I have been a demon in the kitchen lately. Planning and organising breakfast, lunch, and dinner has been a real focus for me as I begin Weight Watchers for a quick kick start in my healthy eating regime. There is something therapeutic and strangely satisfying of preparing and accomplishing a lusty meal.
#6 Black Mirror – Disappearing into an addictive Netflix series is one of the best feelings. My latest addiction is this British television series with each episode being a stand-alone drama. It certainly makes my commute to and from work fly by.
#7 Loving, encouraging messages – I have woken recently to some awesome memos. Words of wisdom, support, assurance seriously boost the soul and make me feel quite frankly fantastic. Thank you, you know who you are!
#8 My Kindle – I have to say this is one of the best inventions…ever. The amount of additional space I now have in my handbag as I replace books with this slimline gem leaves much more room for that larger bottle of perfume!
#9 Mediation apps – I wished I had been introduced to these many years ago. I don’t know what I would do without them now, they ground and relax me. Do you have favourite regular apps which you use?
#10 Bubble baths – Need I say any more?
#11 Vacations – Time out is always a winner. I have recently returned from a Christmas vacay in Abu Dhabi. Replacing baltic conditions with divine heat and relaxation time with a friend by the pool and well, eating more than my body weight each day (hence my healthy eating regime) was a much-needed and welcome break.
#12 Fresh flowers – They not only brighten up a room but oh, that refreshing scent. Why wait for someone to buy you flowers when you can treat yourself to a bouquet and place them around the home.
So there you have it, 12 good things. I have much more but I would be here for days!
What things are you grateful for? Do you have 12 good things in your life right now?
So hey you, yes you…I want to thank you for reading my post. Whether you’ve stuck around since the beginning of my journey or whether you’re new to my blog, thank you for reading and supporting. I genuinely appreciate it.
