Elegance is when the inside is as beautiful as the outside
Fancy a pamper sesh after work? A few hours out of your day maybe, experimenting with makeup and learning how to perfect the impeccable look?
I don’t know about you but this kind of thing is right up my street. Nothing pleases me more than indulging in a bit of me-time, doing things which make me happy and switching off from the world for a while. Which is why a couple of us gals ended the working day and nipped across to Chanel’s first Creative Studio in London. In Harrods to be exact, which for me makes all the difference although it’s like taking part in an assault course to bypass Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo and Dior to get there. Yup, it’s all on the same floor!
That aside, it’s an awesome opportunity to immerse yourself in Chanel’s full makeup collection and have one on one sessions to obtain expert advice on colours, understand textures and what products are best suited to your skin tone.
Tip: Make sure you take your credit card because rest assured you are going to want to purchase pretty much everything you try.
There are many lessons on offer, we went for ‘I Woke Up Like This’ masterclass, understanding how to get that natural look without caking yourself in products. But what I found beneficial was learning how to remove make-up properly, how to apply moisturiser and eye cream properly before layering the products.
Having oily but sensitive skin has always made me feel nervous about trying different skincare products but after a few days after using some of Chanel’s key staples, I have not suffered from any breakout (I have crazy sensitive skin) so it looks like this is a winner in the next round of the skincare stock-up.
Understanding that you don’t have to apply makeup to the whole face was a bit of a revelation for me, there are just some sections of your face that don’t need it and if you apply the right colours, in the right way it can really help to amplify your beauty.
WHAT I LEARNED:
- Dedicating time and just slowing down to the basics of makeup removal and application of cleansers, moisturisers and eye cream uplifted me and I appreciated the freshness and cleanliness of my skin as opposed to slapping product on and rushing out the door.
- That my oily skin is probably exacerbated by the fact that it is actually dehydrated!
- Wait for mascara to dry if you accidentally touch your face with the wand. It magically removes it whereas trying to remove it immediately makes it smudge.
- What colours suit me.
- Exactly what areas to apply highlighter based on lighting on your face (this bit is fun!)
This session cost £30 and it was worth every penny. I highly recommend it. There are currently seven studio masterclasses on offer, you can check them out here.
As I’m a makeup addict, constantly trying new products, here are a few of my faves:
PALETTE ESSENTIELLE – Conceal – highlight – colour (160 Beige Medium)
STYLO SOURCILS – Waterproof defining long wear eyebrow pencil (810 Brun Profound)
LE BLANC DE CHANEL – Multi-use illuminating base
I’m pleased to say my daytime look is much more fresh, balanced and I like to be able to say that I woke up like this!
A huge thank you to all at Chanel London Studio for a fabulous evening, I will be back!
