Friday…the beginning of two days out of the office and no alarm clock.
The last Things I Believe In post was back in April, I can’t believe it was so long ago. Why does time fly so quickly, I want it to slow down. Memories of being a youngster desperately wanting the years to hurry so I could have driving lessons and get my first car makes me want to time travel and tell myself off. I even found myself looking at a toddler in a pushchair this week and thinking, “I hope you’re enjoying it in there, be grateful and enjoy keeping your feet up!” It’s funny how our thoughts change as we increase in years.
Apologies I digress. What do I believe in this week? It’s things which make me feel good, confidence, values and vacays. Slightly different from themes before which have ranged from beauty products, fashion and more recently, sticky toffee pudding.
Boy, this can be a real game changer. When you are truly confident without arrogance you can gain people’s buy-in, take them on a journey with you and be a person people want to be around. I believe it’s down to the positive affirmations you repeat, your body language, the healthy respect you have for yourself and the language you use with others which is what makes the real difference.
Being truly confident this week and banishing the inner critic has made a huge difference and has enabled me to instil confidence in others. What a great feeling.
I talked about values recently in that they are what we stand for. Things important to us in the way we live and work, helping to determine whether we are living the life we want to. I recently made a list of things which are important to me which has helped re-establish who I am. Learning to know yourself is a journey of discovery. It is much more than knowing what our favourite meal is, it’s about knowing our strengths and weaknesses, our hopes and dreams, even our limitations. Once we discover these things it allows us to understand who we are, how we operate and for us to be happy with that.
Ok, so I am biased here as everyone loves a vacation right, including me but I am joyous this week because I am going to Marrakesh for a long weekend. I am desperate for a few days to completely relax, soak up some sun, escape into my books and obviously return looking like a tanned goddess. Sometimes you need some time to unwind and you know that the vacay has done its job when you return refreshed, revitalised and ready to hit the ground running.
What are the things you believe in this week?
