Things I Believe In This Week: Feeling Patriotic, Audi & Living Life

This has been a decidedly special week.

I reconnected with my core values and I don’t mind sharing them with you: freedom, strength and living my best life. The minute I was reminded of this was literally an ‘Aha!’ moment. It’s too easy in such a busy world to be picked up and carried along with the tide of people and their thoughts or actions to the point where you can forget about yourself and your own beliefs. This is why this week the things I believe in are a stark reminder of what makes me happy.

FEELING PATRIOTIC

This week saw thousands of people gather in London to watch the RAF Centenary flypast. A celebration of 100 years with both old and new aircraft taking proudly to the skies. And what stood out for me was just how many people rocked up to watch this. It was a peak goosebump occasion.

After the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (Harry and Megan to us!), I feel this country has gone into patriotic meltdown. I included! What a wonderful feeling.

So I bought a new car this week, I collect on Saturday and not only can I not praise Audi enough for their service, the guy who looked after me was hilarious. I am not sure if he is actually a comedian or whether he really was serious when upon my departure he said, “I need a bloody cigarette and I don’t even smoke.” Think I have a friend for life.

And whilst I am excited about having my sexy four-wheeler, it is true that material possessions do not make people happy, they are a short-term happiness. True elation comes from within.

LIVING LIFE

When I was told that if I don’t have my freedom, strength or not living my best life, I Nicci McShane am miserable, it really struck a chord. It’s true. Too many things I have put on a back burner for ridiculous reasons. Reasons not even worth putting things off for.

To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people just exist.
~Oscar Wilde

So my zest has returned, I have dug out and dusted off the bucket list ready for action. Some of the list I have already crossed off and it’s a wonderful feeling.

How is your bucket list coming along? Do you have one? Have you crossed anything off it?

So there we have it, the three things I believe in this week.

What are the things you believe in this week?
