Ahhh weekend!

Bloody love these two days. I get a reenergised feeling, I want to research the hell out of my favourite blogs and what’s happening in the news, I want to get out and about to new places and I like to stretch my legs. Hence a walk in the park.

Or so I thought. The thought of an abundance of trees, squirrels (there are heaps of them in Greenwich Park), finding different paths to explore, kids and dogs all running free without a care in the world and couples holding hands gives (in my opinion) a bit of a blissful feeling.

So you get where I’m coming from right? I was heading to the park for that clear the cobwebs feeling and to stop my Fitbit from telling me I haven’t moved for the last hour (I’m turning that function off). I do usually take my earphones but I completely forgot them in my mission to get walking before it went dark. Kinda wish I hadn’t but this particular walk completely distracted me and I smashed my 15k step goal without realising.

The ecstatic sounds of kids playing alongside happily barking dogs were muted as a whole new set of conversations were taking centre stage. Let me explain why:

Are there benches in every park?
Of course there are!
Why are you making out I’m stupid?
Because you are!
= Girlfriend stormed off, boyfriend yelling after her.

Why are you telling me what I want, I don’t want that.
I don’t want to leave you, I want you to leave me!
= Further yelling which was actually echoing around the park and gaining a lot of attention (including glares from their two kids!).

In addition to this, the below picture was a frequent image around the park and I am not joking!

Have I missed something? Is there something in the air? There seemed to be a few unhappy people out and about today. We all have ups and downs, things can get on top of us but it was such a beautiful day, the sun was out in all its glory which usually helps improve any mood. Being in lush, green nature tends to encourage a feeling of possibility, allowing us time to think and look forward so I hope by the time they reached home they managed to iron out their differences to enjoy the rest of their evening.

My walk home was much more peaceful, the River Thames offered nothing other than serenity and a sense of gratitude. I was actually still chuckling at one comment which I have saved for last…

If you don’t stop biting your toe nails I am going to bin you right off!

I’m actually looking forward to the next park instalment. Today was eventful to say the least!

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. I loved reading this post. I get what you mean, at a place so beautiful with fresh air and good weather, how can people be so frustrated? The weirdest thing I ever heard; I was filming at the top of Eiffel Tower. I got home and watched the video back. There was a man talking in the background saying how women are all prostitutes and men are all transvestites!

    • Thanks so much! I think if maybe it had just been one couple I may have thought nothing else of it but it was literally so many people! Oh my god I burst out laughing at the man in your video!!!

      • Haha it’s funny because the video is just me zooming in and out super fast on my camera (terrible at taking videos) with this man ranting on. I will have to post to my blog one day because it’s so funny!!
