I’ve seen it all now!

Caffeinated bagels, blue Prosecco, nipple nude lipsticks, cloud eggs and did you know there is such a thing called avocado hand?!

Oh yes, so now that we seem to be in the middle of an avocado party (ok me included), people are actually hurting themselves when cutting up an avocado! Yup, you heard right. And we aren’t talking a little knife scrape, we are talking about deep tendon cuts…I feel sick. There are now videos showing the correct way to do this so as to avoid a visit to A&E. Make sure you check it out!

Every morning I grab my cuppa and spend time scrolling through my news feeds, mesmerised by what’s happening in that big wide world. Somehow I don’t feel complete until I’ve finished my social media rejuvenation. Is anyone else with me? I’m stimulated by up to date reports ranging from beauty products, recipes, fashion, mindfulness, happiness, gear and gadgets to cyber security and financial crime news. I learn heaps on a daily basis, most of it ends up in some way shape or form on my blog. It’s part of who I am and I like being connected in my own way to the world. Maybe I should be a journalist.

I am also a marketers dream, immediately insisting I need that new product to the market. Please tell me I’m not alone here! These guys know exactly what they are doing with their packaging and straplines. Research suggests we now promptly turn to the blogosphere for reviews. There’s no point listening to what the marketers are saying because in my case, I would be massively skint and have a beautiful apartment filled with, well just shit I don’t need.

So, you can imagine. In the last two weeks I read news about five of my favourite things…coffee, eggs, lipstick, avocado and Prosecco (I do have many more by the way, let’s just say that these have just grabbed my attention).

CAFFEINATED BAGELS

They contain 32mg of coffee. Boom. In a New York minute I’m thinking, “You mean to tell me I can save money, be way more efficient and have my daily fix in a combined breakfast?!” There seems to be mixed reviews on it so far and my favourite bagel contains salmon and cream cheese so I’m not quite sure how that will taste with a combined kick of coffee?! They aren’t available in the UK yet but I have to say it’s intruiging.

BLUE PROSECCO

What instantaneously springs to mind is blue WKD and MD 2020, does anyone remember those? With this in mind, blue Prosecco doesn’t have a sophisticated vibe for me (it also isn’t cheap) but a blend of sparkling wine, blue curaçao, and peach might just be a decent summer cocktail.

NIPPLE NUDE LIPSTICKS

The hunt for a perfect nude lipstick is probably going to continue until my last day on earth. There are so many out there to choose from and what if you have a tan? The whole process begins again! But recent reports indicate that the perfect nude lipstick is the same colour as our nipples. Now I may profess to be a marketers dream but I am most definitely not about to head to Selfridges and ask for a colour match! How is that even supposed to work?! I’m also not going to lie and say I haven’t stood in the bathroom and carefully examined the colour either! The power of social media hey?

CLOUD EGGS

These have been around for years but with the help of Instagram they are the next big hit. I had a go myself, I wanted to see what they would turn out like. They look cool and are only 132 calories…way to go. But oh my life, the time it takes to faff making one! I’ll stick to my omelettes thanks.

What’s interesting here is how social media has influenced the news we read. It is fast increasing as our main source of information even though we can’t be completely sure of its reliability. Rising trends in fashion, beauty, music and food create excitement and thanks to the power of social media, there is some impressive photography out there connecting us to possibilities we never knew existed.

What are your thoughts on news through social media and the impact it has on us? I would love to hear your views.

  1. This was interesting to read. I have mixed reviews on it. I think social media in general, forces people to get creative and started thinking of all sorts of random ways to redo something. Like people contouring with their heels and stuff. On the other hand, I like reading about people’s opinions on the news.

I try not to get too caught up in it. Sometimes people can write information on blogs though, that is not entirely accurate. Like I saw something on skin recently, and I just read thinking – oh my gosh, this is wrong! xx

    • I’m the same! I am intruigued by some things and then on others I think oh my god you have got to be kidding! I think the fact that we never know whether the information as you say is 100% accurate, makes us remember to have an open mind. We don’t have to follow the crowd. We can be a part of it, know what’s going on but don’t all have to be a follower. I for one don’t want avocado hand! Xxxx
