How Blogging Has Changed My Life

I see the world differently now.

All thanks to my blog. Of course blogging can be a source of income, it can be a place to have a voice and inspire people but it can also help you understand your purpose in life.

When the decision to be a blogger was made, I was in Singapore’s rooftop bar, Ce La Vi in the iconic Marina Bay Sands building. My favourite building in the world (wrestling first place with the Empire State Building). Alongside having a voice I wanted to make something of myself aside from corporate life, an area where I could grow personally and in a completely different space which quite frankly, could take me anywhere in the world I wanted.

I have been very lucky and also worked dam hard to have succeeded and achieved this, but I think if I look at something much deeper, blogging has also helped to inspire me. Like it has been a pay it forward, but to me and for me. Does that even make sense?

I now understand the basics of marketing, I have enhanced writing skills, I am a digital influencer, I know how to set a website up from scratch and have collaborated with firms to design my own business cards. What an awesome learning experience, I am constantly looking at ways to refine and remodel and the satisfaction of knowing I did all this by myself is colossal.

I don’t like to waste time sitting around. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good to relax and recharge when it’s needed but if I waste hours just doing nothing I always end up feeling melancholy for squandering precious hours of my life. Those times can be spent being more productive which is where blogging can be really advantageous. The time I spend planning, creating, designing and marketing my blog is a rewarding and gratifying feeling.

Because I share experiences, memories or general thoughts with my readers it has helped me to appreciate everything I have. I notice and focus more on the little things, but the things I probably used to take for granted.

Through my passion of maximising life and helping others to do the same, blogging has given me the appetite to create more memories and enjoy new experiences. Everything I see I think about how I can share the same observation. Knowing that you can help inspire others is a remarkable feeling.

I think the most important and beneficial aspect of blogging is that I now lead a more intentional life. It has helped me evaluate how I am living my life and reflect on whether I am demonstrating myself the very things I share and inspire through my work. I feel a sense of accountability for what I am doing with my life and how I am living it. Now that in my opinion really is awesome.
