“Own who you are.”
A wonderful and direct message sent my way this week. Self-doubt and worry are common in this crazy and awesome world we live in but it’s important to remember that each one of us has our own style, thoughts, dreams, and goals. It’s what makes us unique, it’s individuality.
It’s easy to be influenced, swayed by others opinions and it’s easy to be sucked into pleasing people and comparing ourselves to others. Sometimes we want what we can’t have or want to be like someone else but it’s important to remain true to who we are and what we want. We can, of course, be inspired by others and be influenced by welcoming others thoughts as potential suggestions to help us form decisions or admire others style in order to have options to define our own…see where I am going with this?
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken
~Oscar Wilde
In my rediscovery this week of understanding what makes me tick I made a list of things which make me happy and a list of goals, both short and long-term with no holds barred, no limits and including both tiny and huge items. I realised that there are many things on both of the lists that I take for granted, things that I sometimes do which I don’t realise makes me happy and there are things I am not doing which I could, in order to add more happiness. Have you ever made any of these lists? How did it make you feel? I have been referring to both lists all week to remain focused, remember my essence and to continue owning who I am.

Some of those things include:
RED LIPS
The colour red is energising, it’s also associated with strength and passion so there’s no surprise that on wearing a red lip we feel confident, strong-willed and well, god damn awesome! I used to think to wear a strong lip was restricted to nights out but it is now a regular look. And most recently, daily.

PODCASTS
I’m constantly absorbing information, reading articles and disappearing into a book. But what about when I’m on the go, I can’t exactly walk down the street reading a book so I’ve subscribed to some podcasts to keep myself entertained and to keep that mind of mine active. A couple of my favourites include:
- Stuff You Should Know (I now know all about champagne!) run by Josh and Chuck who discuss everything from how the Secret Service works to how ketchup works. A great download!
- Ladies Who Lunch with Ingrid and Cat who chat through anything from how to be honest with ourselves to balancing independence and validation. A perfect boost available at any time of day. A real winner.
Get those earphones in and disappear for a while, I highly recommend it.
LEATHER JACKETS
I love how my leather jacker transforms any outfit I wear, it can add both a more relaxed or a vamped up look. And it’s a perfect fall accessory, an in-between weather jacket. This teamed with a red lip, white t-shirt and tailored pants…B E A UTIFUL!

I too have to remind myself regularly on what makes me, me. So of course this post was a nice reminder. I couldn’t agree more with you and about leather jackets. I still can’t understand how a simple jacket can transform. Amazing. Anyway, love your post!
Thanks so much!!! And there’s something about a leather jacket that can really jazz up or make a look more casual! Xxxx
