Things I Believe In This Week: Clarins, Bioderma & Liz Earle

Well hello, beautiful!
It’s that time again, the next in the series Things I Believe In This Week.

This is where I share the items which have made my week sparkle. You can read more about previous items here.

This week it’s all about the body. Not helped by the fact I am constantly scouring department stores for a new piece of kit to adorn my makeup bag or a fresh body cream which is, of course, an essential addition to the bathroom cabinet. Some advertisements are great at giving the impression their products are indispensable like your life couldn’t continue without it, only to fork out the cash and realise it was a complete waste of money. We’ve all been there, right? But I have three purchases I am about to share with you which have been absolutely worth their weight in gold.

Audrey Hepburn said, “I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick.” One of my favourite quotes used repeatedly as all three sums me up pretty well. Lipstick or lipgloss is something I am never without, I stockpile them and probably should have thrown a lot of them out by now but I can’t bring myself to do it. Choosing a decent lip isn’t easy, I am fussy. I need moisture, I switch between gloss, matte and a good old lip balm. One lunchtime break from the office hanging around in my local department store and I come across Clarins Instant Light Lip Protector, in a gorgeous baby pink colour which is always difficult for me to find. A similar nightmare to finding the right red!

But this is a mix between all three, it’s a damn good lip balm, working a striking pink gloss and with less application, a subtle moisturising lipstick. It’s easy to administer with its squeezy sponge applicator and is nice and slimline for my mini makeup bag. Perfect!

I am a bit fussy about makeup removers, they can be super oily and being susceptible to the odd breakout I need something which won’t aggravate my skin or leave a greasy residue. After sampling numerous products I have finally found the winner, Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micellar Water. It’s perfect for sensitive skin with a gentle solution effectively removing all traces of makeup without having to use a million cotton pads. It’s an effective product leaving clean refreshed skin for the skincare routine to begin. You can find it in many department stores or pharmacies for around £10.

Liz Earle is my ultimate skincare brand. I finally found the perfect combination of products, which took many years I might add, sampling the latest fads and spending a fortune on brands which advertise the supreme translucent skin, only to suffer many a disappointing breakout.

After finally getting it right and in addition to my morning and evening routine, I am now a massive fan of their Botanical Body Cream which I apply after using the Orange Flower Botanical Body Wash. I have a love-hate relationship with body creams. I flit from high street to super brands and either find a luxurious (and extremely expensive) product or find a much cheaper alternative which hardly lasts the month as it disappears into my skin. What I love about Liz Earle’s body cream is that it soaks into the skin without leaving a sticky residue, it’s light upon application and its delicate orange, lavender and rose-scented geranium combined with the body wash leave a refreshing and long-lasting citrus, feminine aura.

What are your favourite products this week?
