There’s A New Indian Restaurant In Town: Chokhi Dhani

People who love to eat are are always the best people

Chokhi Dhani’s founder, Gul Vaswani has brought his first overseas opening to Battersea, London.

Indian cuisine is one of my favourites and washed down with a divine glass of red, what more can you wish for?

Chokhi Dhani opened a few months ago, the interior is opulent with many interesting artefacts and a beautiful view of the River Thames as you dine.

The presentation of the food is simple yet elegant, each dish is appealing and expressive. It’s consistent throughout with well thought out executed visuals and flavours exceeding the appearance. There is even a long glass cabinet on the ground floor offering beautiful items for purchase.

Papad & Chutney (Avocado, Himalayan tomato, mango & apricot)

You can choose from a variety of options from the A La Carte, Express Lunch or Street Food menu.

For me, the ambience is part of the dining experience. Of course, the food has to be yummy and I get excited upon seeing the creative presentation of dishes, but the atmosphere is key to have a fulfilling experience. You are accompanied by gentle music and a friendly team ensuring you have everything you need.

Left to Right: Shuturmurgh Tikka (Ostrich, black pepper, yoghurt & mace); Kadak Momo Chat (Crispy vegetarian dumpling, potato, chickpeas)

The dishes are absolutely divine, I have to say that this has been one of the nicest Indian meals I have devoured in a long time. The meat is tender and appropriately spiced for my liking, a slight kick of heat accompanied by a glass of Malbec and all is well in the world.

Paneer Palak

Oudhi Murgh Makhan

There’s real pride evident in these dishes, almost complimenting the intricate carvings and glittering chandeliers.

And not only does it end there with the delicious food and palatial interior, there is a palm reader available (for free!) on the ground floor. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to meet with him as there was such a big queue but it’s definitely an added bonus.

And what better way to end the evening than with a masala chai tea.

You can find out more about Chokhi Dhani here and they are located at 2 Riverlight Quay, Nine Elms Lane, London, SW11 8AW.
